This is my second project with the talented dancer and acrobat Gines. We shot in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter using two rolls of film 36 standard frames divided by 4 Frames each),36x4x2 = 288 Frames which I developed at home before scanning and working on each image individually.

Some of the frames were overexposed, so I spent quite a bit of time refining them.
I also tried composing music for the project, but I wasn’t satisfied with the results. In the end, I found the silence at the beginning more compelling, with sound only appearing toward the end.

The sounds at the end were created using a 1960s Teisco guitar, an analog delay, and a small Gretsch amp. I tapped on the guitar and played just two notes. Sometimes, that was all the piece needed.

And I remembered this Lyrics of David Bowie´s song Quicksand (Hunky Dory album)

I'm closer to the Golden Dawn
Immersed in Crowley's uniform
Of imagery
I'm living in a silent film
Portraying Himmler's sacred realm
Of dream reality
I'm frightened by the total goal
Drawing to the ragged hole
And I ain't got the power anymore
No, I ain't got the power anymore

“Pulvis et umbra sumus” ("We are but dust and shadow") comes from the Roman poet Horace in Odes.

It expresses the fragility and impermanence of human life. Dust symbolizes our physical mortality—we return to the earth. Shadow symbolizes how fleeting our presence is, like something that appears briefly and then disappears.
